RETURN OF THE HUNTERS. Messerschmitt Me262 jets of JG7 return home after intercepting an American raid on Munich air bases, Bavaria, 1945. As the war in Europe drew to its close, an elite group of Luftwaffe fighter pilots, undaunted by the over-whelming odds, heralded in the new Jet Age in a final desperate attempt to defend their homeland. All were veteran combat Aces, most having flown continually since the Battles of France and Britain almost six years earlier. Many had completed upwards of 1000 combat missions, and even as Germany was fast falling to the Allied advances, these remarkable men refused to accept defeat. Roaring off the airfields of southern Germany Willie Messerschmitt’s Me262 jet fighter was faster than anything that had flown before. Thrown into battle whilst still in development, the aircraft was a handful to fly, but in the hands of the most experienced fighter Aces the world has ever known, the Me262 was a force to be reckoned with. This stunning print is personally autographed by three of the most iconic Aces ever to fly the Me262. Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds – 104 victories. Advertising release issued by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation, granting House of Westmore the right to use the likeness of Marilyn Monroe in advertising their cosmetic products, with the stipulation that the following credit line shall appeareasily legible: Marilyn Monroe starring in River of No Return in CinemaScope. A 20th Century-Fox Production. Nicely signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint by Monroe and countersigned by representatives from both companies. At this time the production of River of No Return was finishedit had been shot in Canada over the summerbut it would not be released until the following spring. Interestingly, it was the first film to be shot in Canada using CinemaScope and the cinematography received critical acclaim despite overall lukewarm reviews of the movie. Among the cosmetics advertised by Westmore using Monroes image were their Tru-Glo liquid makeup, Party Puff powder makeup, and Kiss-Tested lipstick. In addition to the relation to one of Monroes films, this is an uncommon type of document and is remarkably well-preserved. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services, as well as two modern prints of publicity photos from the role.
