September 23, 1975 letter written and signed by English explorer Sir Vivian Fuchs. Written on Fuchs’s personal stationary. In 1958, Fuchs and his expeditionary team completed the first overland crossing of Antarctica. Fuchs’s team collected data that determined the thickness of the ice at the pole and discovering a landmass underneath, among other important data recorded. The hundred-day expedition lasted from November 24, 1957 to March 2, 1958. Fuchs was knighted by Her Majesty, Elizabeth II for his efforts. Size: 8″ x 10″.
