MILITARY APPOINTMENT SIGNED BY JOHN HANCOCK AS GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS ON MAY 20, 1788, THE VERY DAY HANCOCK RECEIVED THE ACTS OF THE NEWLY FORMED EXECUTIVE BRANCH. Partial military appointment signed by, John Hancock, as Governor of Massachusetts and countersigned by John Avery, Jr. As Secretary of Massachusetts on May 20, 1788, the very day Edmund Randolph sent to Hancock the acts of the newly formed Executive Branch consisting of the President. The document is one page with the fully-intact paper seal, measures 13 by 7.25, in very good condition with a small area of paper loss to the top, scattered light staining, center missing, and having been attached to a thicker piece of paper.
