AFTAL dealer Deeming Autographs presents: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a good content handwritten, signed, letter dated 1st July, 1910, on his headed paper, measuring 8 x 5 inches. The letter is to Mr. Charles Humble Dudley Ward, a British Army officer who served with the Welsh Guards. He served during World War I and was a recipient of the Military Cross, as well as being a writer. This letter refers to his book’Jenny Peters’. Doyle informs Ward that his brother-in-law Patrick Stewart Leckie (brother of Conan Doyle’s wife, Jean) has lent him a copy of the book, in part:’I thought it fine – very brave and lofty – well done in every way’. This is a letter of good content and association. Condition note: There is some light dust staining and two torn file holes to the lower edge. This does not affect the text or signature.
