General Claire Lee Chennault [1890 1958] was an American military aviator and major general who commanded the U. Army Air Forces in China [1942 1945] and created the American Volunteer Group [AVG] best known as the”Flying Tigers”. Chennault began his military career in 1917 when he enlisted in the U. S Army where he completed flight training and served until he was honorably discharged in 1920. Chennault then received a regular commission and trained and served with the Air Coirps Tactical School where he authored well received manuals and books on fighter tactics. Chennault’s theorys on air tactics put him at odds with his superiors which led to his retirement in 1937 with the rank of captain. Chennault’s ideas attracted the attention of China and Chennault was hired as a air advisor to general Chiang Kai-shek in 1937. In 1937 China went to war with Japan and Chennault began rebuilding the Chinese Air Force and in 1941 he created the famed Flying Tigers, a squadron of volunteer U. S pilots who were trained by Chennault. The unit achieved an outstanding combat record and was incorporated into the regular U. S Army Air Force as the China Air Task Force [later reorganized as the 14th Air Force] with general Chennault as the commander. The squadron achieved great success against Japanese forces and in 1943 Chennault was promoted to major general. The letter is dated 8 March 1954 Taipei, Taiwan and is addressed to a U. The letter is a response to a autograph request and is signed”C. Chennault” in black fountain pen above his typed name and retired rank as Major General USAF. The autograph of Claire Chennault is rare and difficult to obtain, the example offered is authentic, signed on a desirable letterhead and will be a wonderful addition to any military collection. Signed as President 1963 Peace Corp content letter on. White House letterhead with original postmarked envelope. Vintage Louis Fabian Bacharach Jr. “Museum Preservation Standards Framed “. UNIQUE VINTAGE PEACE CORP CONTENT. Offered for your approval. “White House letterhead 1963 typed letter signed with Peace Corp content plus original post marked mailing envelope “. The summer of 1963 was high noon for President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Only one month earlier he had just “rocked the boat again” delivering his ground breaking “Peace Speech” at the American University. Conspirators were hard at work making plans to end his life in less than four months. Kennedy’s term as President was only 1,000 days… Here’s an opportunity to add an extremely rare original vintage JFK signed as President typed letter of congratulations to a member of his newly formed Peace Corp. This is a typed letter on White House stationery at an affordable price. This letter was considered secretarial or autopen signed. CONDITION: Very Fine condition. NOTE: We had the letter and the envelope examined by two different expert graders. One said auto-pen signed and the other expert said the pressure of the ink was too unevenly distributed in the signature which is very inconsistent with an autopen. His opinion signed with fountain pen by hand. Also interesting was both experts said, the hand writing on the envelope was consistent with Mrs. Evelyn Lincoln’s hand writing. Evelyn Lincoln was Kennedy’s secretary. So there you have it. You very seldom see any JFK letters for sale and anything signed by President Kennedy during his 1,000 days in office is extremely rare and valuable and priced out of reach of most collectors. President Abraham Lincoln and President John F. Kennedy are two most valuable and collectible autographs among all presidential autographs. Here is a truly stunning one-of-a-kind JFK presidential museum framed high quality display. Using the finest museum grade and acid free preservation materials we could find we painstakingly built this museum quality display using patriotic carved star solid wood frame. The red, white and blue museum grade acid free suede fabric matt boards we selected were also special ordered and each window opening is accented with antiqued silver wood filets. The letter is floated in window opening and we worked the vintage White House stamped and canceled envelope into the framed display very nicely. The laser engraved brushed aluminum plate is also floated inside blue suede backed opening highlighted with solid bold antique silver wood filets. The entire display is overlaid and protected under museum grade UV glare free Plexiglas surface and measures approximately 29″ x 35″ and comes ready to hang in your office or den. Our framed investment rarities are true works of art. We guarantee your satisfaction. The custom laser engraved brushed aluminum plate reads as follows. May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963. 35th President of the United States. John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s term in office was brief lasting only 1,000 days however, represented a key point in American history. The nation was prosperous and at the pinnacle of economic prosperity and international prestige. Kennedy at age 43 was the youngest man ever elected President, and he would soon also become the youngest to die. Events that occurred during his presidency; the Bay of Pigs fiasco, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Berlin Wall, the Vietnam War escalation, the African American Civil Rights Movement, the establishment of the Peace Corps, the Project Apollo Space Program, and the proposed World Peace and Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested that afternoon and charged with the crime. Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald two days later, before Oswald could be questioned or a trial take place. The FBI and the Warren Commission officially concluded that Oswald was a lone assassin. The United States House Select committee on Assassinations (USCA) agreed with the conclusion that Oswald, a CIA asset, and an alleged FBI operative, fired the shots which killed the President, but also concluded that Kennedy was probably assassinated as the result of a far reaching conspiracy. Please note we are not photographers therefore the actual colors may vary somewhat from what you viewed when you ordered. Please read our feedback as the over-whelming majority of customers like the real thing much better. Unfortunately our photos do not do our displays justice so be prepared to be very pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the actual delivered framed historical investment quality display.
