Vintage leather bound hardcover autograph album dating from the 1860s to the 1870s and signed inside by 197 Civil War and post-war political and military figures, including Abraham Lincoln (three months before his assassination on January 11, 1865), Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant, Hannibal Hamlin, William Seward, Edwin M. Chase, Gideon Welles, John C. Fremont, Charles Sumner, Winfield Scott Hancock, and many others. AUTOGRAPH ALBUM SIGNED BY 197 CIVIL WAR AND POST-WAR POLITICAL AND MILITARY FIGURES, INCLUDING ABRAHAM LINCOLN, ANDREW JOHNSON, ULYSSES S. GRANT, AND MANY OTHERS. Previously owned by J. Browning with his ownership signature stamped to the front free endpaper. Accompanied with a 1920s typed note of provenance from E. Most pages multi-signed back-to-back, measures 8 by 5.5 inches, bound in full calf, front board contains a beautiful design embossed in gilt, edges gilted, and in very good to fine condition with minor rubbing to the boards, the spine professionally rebacked, minor soiling and toning to the endpapers and pages, and several pages professionally reattached including the first two that contain Grant and Johnsons signatures.
