REVOLUTIONARY WAR-DATED DOCUMENT SIGNED BY SAMUEL ADAMS AS A COUNSELLOR MEMBER OF THE MASSACHUSETTS SUPREME EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AND COUNTERSIGNED BY 14 FELLOW COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND PATRIOTS. Revolutionary War-dated document signed by, S. Adams, as a counsellor member of the Massachusetts Supreme Executive Council and countersigned by fellow counsellors members and patriots, including. William Spooner, served three years in Captain James Lincoln. S company and Colonel Ebenezer. S regiment in 1775 and as paymaster in Colonel Rufus Putnam. S regiment of the Continental Army in 1777 to 1781. Henry Gardner as Massachusetts state treasurer, a position he held from 1774 to 1782. The Massachusetts Supreme Executive Council comprised the executive branch of the Massachusetts state government. Counsellors were elected to represent each county in Massachusetts as well as the city of Boston. Offering a one-page 1776 document, 4 ½ x 7 1/2, signed by Norwalk, CT, Selectmen Jesse Raymond, Revolutionary War notable David Comstock and Justice of the Peace Stephen St. John abating the assessment of Elijah Hoyt. To the Treasurerwhereas Elijah Holt of Norwalkcomplains thatwrong charges in his list for the year 1776 the sum of one hundred & eight pounds, fourteen shillings andon hearing the parties are of opinion that he is over chargedought to be abated and he is therefore hereby abated the afore. Sum of one hundred & eight pounds, fourteen shillings. 1776 The magic year of 1776 appears twice. We find that DAVID COMSTOCK served for five years in the Revolutionary War from 1777, when he was 16, until 1782 in Capt. Uriah Raymonds Regiment of Rangers formed to protect Southwest Connecticut. Comstock was also part of a committee to get what salt there was in the town of Boston, belonging to the inhabitants of this townat the expense of the town as part of the war effort.
