Royal warrant signed by King George III, dated 1786. Countersigned by Secretary of War Sir George Yonge, 5th Baronet. Warrant regards arrangements for Captain Benjamin Bloomfield, who would later see action at the Battle of Vinegar Hill. One edge very rough, with partial loss of paper to top corner and remnants of glue and scrapbook paper to reverse where it was previously mounted to an album. Partial separation (about 2″ on one side, less than 1″ on other) to center fold, without any loss to paper. From the collection of Captain Peter Johnston-Saint, who worked for many years as an agent collecting on behalf of Sir Henry Wellcome. 12.5″ x 7.75″.
