This is an original letter (not a reprint) which has been typed and signed by legendary film directer Stanley Kubrick. The letter dates from 3rd August 1977 when Kubrick would have been in preproduction for’The Shining’. It is typed using an unusual typeface which can be seen in other Kubrick letters from this time held by the Kubrick Archive. I have seen at least one crude forgery which is based on this letter but which uses the standard Courier style typeface. From my own research, I believe the letter was written to Adrian Turner, a film critic and writer who has written several articles about Kubrick over the years. Adrian Turner was also an officer of the BFI (British Film Institute) which is referenced in the letter. The letter is A4 in size (approx 30cm x 21cm) and is signed’Stanley’ in blue biro.
