From a private collection, offered for sale is an extremely rare 1960 original typed and signed letter by Marilyn Monroe. Including the original postmarked envelope. The letter measures 6 X 9 inches. Both the letter and envelope are on’MARILYN MONROE’ header imprinted personal stationary. The letter is dated April 15, 1960. This thank-you letter was sent shortly after the country of Chile awarded Marilyn Monroe with the honor of’Best Actress in Film’ for her role as Sugar’Kane’ Kowalczyk, in the hit film SOME LIKE IT HOT. The Laurel de Oro Awards were Chile’s version of the Oscars / Academy Awards in the USA. Miss Monroe was not able to attend the ceremony in Chile at that time, so she sends her praise and thanks for the award, and confirms that the award trophy/statuette has been delivered to her in person.
