Albert Einstein Wonderful content typed letter signed with handwritten edition
A German-born theoretical physicist. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. Best known for his mass-energy equivalence formula E = mc2 – the world’s most famous equation. Received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. Wonderful content typed letter signed A. 8.5 x 5.0 inch, 1951 March 17. Einstein sent this letter to Dr. Lionel Ettlinger, a man with whom he had been corresponding for almost 20 years. This fine letter shows Einstein as a caring friend, a side of the famous physicist that was rarely seen by the public. Written 3 days after his 72 birthday where the famous tongue-photo was taken. Ettlinger: I thank you for your friendly congratulations and for the wonderful books. You not the books! Are a real ballet dancer of thought: one may well gape but not imitate him. I feel so ashamed to be so spoiled, whereas nobody cares about those to whom the good things are denied. Friendly regards from your. Mailing folds, trimmed top and bottom, else fine condition. The language in his letter shows a unique side to the great mind. His rhetoric is colorful and shows a depth and warmth rarely seen in any of his writing. Are a real ballet dancer of thought: one may well gape but not imitate him. This may seem to be a quote from some other source but is not, it is unique, rare and referenced nowhere else. He primarily concentrated on these efforts from 1933 when he arrived in the United States until that nation entered World War II. His actions enabled many of his people to obtain visas and find work outside of NS territory. Ettlinger would spend approximately 80 percent of his personal wealth helping German Jews relocate to other countries. Known as Maja, she had suffered a stroke (1946) which left her bedridden and eventually unable to speak. She died on June 25, 1951, three month after her brother Albert sent this letter. KENNEDY He signed this typed letter as President in August 1963, thanking Meet the Press moderator Lawrence Spivak for condolences on the death of his son Patrick. Typed Letter signed: “John Kennedy” as President , 1 page, 6¾x8¾. The White House, Washington, 1963 August 14. Spivak, Meet the Press, New York, N. In full: You were kind indeed to think us at this difficult time. Your message was a comfort to me and my family and we are very grateful to you. Accompanied by original typed envelope. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, pregnant with the Kennedy’s third child, collapsed during a walk on the beach and was forced to deliver prematurely a son, Patrick, on August 7, 1963. He died less than 40 hours later. The loss is said to have brought Jack and Jackie closer together, while devastating the President. An even greater tragedy loomed ahead, one of so many endured by the Kennedy family, when JFK himself was gunned down during a Dallas motorcade on November 22, 1963. Spivak considered Kennedy to have been one of his finest guests on the program, characterized by his honesty and brevity. See more material from these signers.
