Albert Einstein Autograph Letter Signed with Equations
Excellent Albert Einstein autograph letter signed A. Einstein, where Einstein enjoys the success of confirming his Generalized Theory of Gravitation, which expanded the application of his General Theory of Relativity. In this letter to his assistant Ernst Straus, Einstein even handwrites the pertinent equations and then writes, This is indeed the excellent generalization of the gravitational equations. You will recall that we believed to have convinced ourselves that this was impossible! Although Einstein’s attempts to unify disparate theories of gravity and relativity were discounted after his death, many now believe that he’s since been vindicated with new discoveries, including the “strong force” of particle physics. Dated 3 February 1950, Einstein’s letter in German reads in full, Dear Mr. / Your detailed letter, which made me very happy, arrived just now. However, it really does constitute immense progress. You see, I was successful in proving compatibility for the (stronger) system, [equations]. This is indeed the excellent generalization of the gravitational equations. After you have seen this thing, please pass it on to my old friend and assistant [Cornelius] Lanczos, whom I want you to meet. You will enjoy knowing him. Please give him my best and, for the time being, thank him on my behalf for his most recent letter. Please excuse my brevity. You do know how things are here with us. Cordial greetings to both of you and the cat. / Yours, / A. Single page measures 8.5″ x 11″. Shallow folds and minute chipping at top edge. Overall near fine condition. Dear Miss Botthof: May I offer my sincere congratulations to you on the splendid work you have undertaken on behalf of the refugees during Dedication Week. The power of resistance which has enabled the Jewish people to survive for thousands of years has been based to a large extent on traditions of mutual helpfulness. In these years of affliction our readiness to help one another is being put to an especially severe test. May we stand this test as well as did our fathers before us. We have no other means of self-defense than our solidarity and our knowledge that the cause for which we are suffering is a momentous and sacred cause. It must be a source of deep gratification to you to be making so important a contribution toward rescuing our persecuted fellow-Jews from their calamitous peril and leading them toward a better future. ALBERT EINSTEIN Original Signed Mathematical Equation
Circa 1932 Albert Einstein Handwritten Mathematical Equation and Inscription. Complex series of mathematical equations, written by Albert Einstein. Though the math is beyond our understanding, it is probable, based upon his brief handwritten notation, that the equations relate directly to his “Special Theory of Relativity”. Between the eighth and ninth equations, Einstein has written (translated) in special system. Bright, clean, in overall very good to excellent condition. There is a certificate of authentication that comes with this item. I have had it for many years and I think it is time for someone else to enjoy and cherish this original piece from the “Genius”.
