88 ORIGINAL BATTLE OF BRITAIN AIRCREW SIGNATURES FRAMED 24″X18″. COLLECTED BY A BoB PILOT AT THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE. 88 SIGNATURES WERE COLLECTED BY A BATTLE OF BRITAIN (BoB) FIGHTER PILOT ON THE ACTUAL DAY OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE. THIS MOMENTUS EVENT TOOK PLACE ON 15TH SEPTEMBER 1990 AT BENTLEY PRIORY (THE HQ OF RAF FIGHTER COMMAND FROM WHERE ACM SIR HUGH DOWDING CONDUCTED OPERATIONS DURING THE BATTLE AND BEYOND). THE BoB PILOT WHO COLLECTED THESE SIGNATURES WAS HIMSELF A DISTINGUISHED FIGHTER PILOT FLYING HAWKER HURRICANES DURING THE BATTLE, PRIOR TO UNDERTAKING FIGHTER SWEEPS OVER FRANCE. I WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING PROVENANCE ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS – BUT I WILL DO SO ONLY WITH VERY SERIOUS POTENTIAL PURCHASERS. I WILL ALSO PROVIDE A LETTER CONFIRMING PROVENANCE TO THE PURCHASER. THE 88 SIGNATURES WERE INSCRIBED ON A PRINT OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT SPITFIRE 11a P7350. THE SIZE OF THE FRAMED PRINT IS 24″X18″ AND THE SIZE OF THE SIGNED PRINT ITSELF IS 17″X11″. THE PICTURE ITSELF IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THERE IS A SLIGHT KINK TO THE RIGHT HAND OF THE PICTURE WHICH ACTUALLY OCCURED ON THE DAY OF THE SIGNATURES BUT DOES NOT EFFECT THE SIGNATURES (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS). THE BRASS PLAQUE WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE MOUNT OF THE FRAME IS SHOWING SIGNS OF AGE AND NEEDS A LITTLE ATTENTION OR COULD EASILY BE REPLACED. THE BRASS PLAQUE DOES NOT IMPACT UPON THE MATERIAL INTEGRITY OF THE SIGNED PICTURE. THE FRAME IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT COULD EASILY BE REPLACED IF REQUIRED. IT IS INDEED RARE TO FIND SO MANY BoB AIRCREW SIGNATURES IN ONE PLACE OUTSIDE OF A MUSUEM. BUT TO ADD TO THIS IT IS INCREDIBLY RARE TO FIND SO MANY SIGNATURES ADDED ON THE ACTUAL DAY OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BoB HELD AT THE HQ OF FIGHTER COMMAND DURINGTHE BATTLE. THESE SIGNATURES CONTAIN WELL KNOWN, LESS WELL KNOWN AND MANY WHO CAME FROM OTHER NATIONS TO FIGHT AS MEMBERS OF THE RAF DURING THE BATTLE. THE INK OF TWO OF THE SIGNATURES HAVE FADED SOMEWHAT WITH AGE BUT ARE STILL LEGIBLE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FRAMED AUTOGRAPED PICTURE HAS BEEN ON THE WALL IN MY HOME FOR MOST OF THE PAST 3 DECADES AND I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED IT IN-SITU. HENCE MY PHOTOS WERE TAKEN THROUGH THE GLASS OF THE PICTURE FRAME WHICH HAS PRODUCED SOME REFLECTION IN THE PHOTOS SHOWN HERE. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK. THIS IS ONE OF A PAIR WHICH WERE SIGNED ON THE DAY FOR THIS BoB PILOT. I ALSO OWN THE OTHER WHICH IS A PRINT OF A HURRICANE WITH 92 ORIGINAL SIGNATURES.
