LEE & JEFFERSON DAVIS. He is arguably the most brilliant commander of field armies in American History. Within months of his surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant and the close of the Civil War, Lee became the President of Washington College where he would remain until his death. Jefferson Davis (18081889) was an American military officer and politician who, after serving as a U. Senator and Secretary of War, was the first and only President of the Confederate States of America from 1861 until its collapse at the end of the Civil War. The magazine was signed by all four band members – James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and the late Cliff Burton. This might be the only copy in existence signed by Cliff. The issue was released on June 20th of 1986, just 2 months before Cliff died in the tragic tour bus crash on September 27th. The magazine features a great article by Chuck Eddy documenting the success Metallica was enjoying following the release of Master of Puppets. The entire issue is fun to flip through – a great snapshot of mid 80s culture. The magazine is in over-sized newsstand format measuring 13.25″ by 10.75″. Beatles Signed’rubber Soul’ Album On’mad Day Out’ 1968 Frank Caiazzo Coa

1968 Autographed Copy of The Beatles’ 1965 Vinyl Album Rubber Soul. Parlophone PMC 1267, second UK mono pressing, the back cover signed in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, together with a copy of a black and white photograph by Stephen Goldblatt of John signing this album for the original recipient and a LOA issued by Frank Caiazzo, dated August 8, 2016, and a hardcover copy of Tom Murray’s 68’Mad Day Out’ (2016). This is one of only 2 known Rubber Soul album covers autographed by all four of The Beatles. That, coupled with the circumstances surrounding its signing, make it one of the rarest and most desirable signed Beatles albums in existence. Authenticated by Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, the word’rare’ cannot be overused to describe full Beatles autograph sets from the year 1968. They are virtually non-existent, and of the few known from this year, this signed album cover is the undisputed’King of the Hill’. In fact nothing even comes close. This copy of Rubber Soul was signed on Sunday 28th July 1968 , during what has become known as the Beatles’ Mad Day Out. In the afternoon and early evening of that day, the Beatles, accompanied by the well-known war photographer, Don McCullin, together with photographers Ronald Fitzgibbon, Stephen Goldblatt, Tony Bramwell and Mal Evans, visited some seven different locations around London. Also in the entourage were Yoko Ono, Mal’s young son Gary and Paul’s then girlfriend, Francie Schwarz. The sixth stop of the day was at Wapping Pier Head in the London Docks area. A number of now-iconic photographs emanated from this stage of the day’s sessions, including Paul, stripped to the waist and draped in a chain, posing by the edge of the River Thames and John, wearing Don McCullin’s camouflaged jacket, lying on the ground with the other three Beatles standing over him. During these proceedings, several local residents became aware of their famous visitors, including a female fan who presented this album to the band for signature and who was photographed by Stephen Goldblatt as John was adding his autograph a copy of which is present with this lot. Genuine sets of Beatles’ autographs post-1967 are extremely rare indeed, let alone from such an historic event, and it is no exaggeration to say that only a handful of like examples are known.
