By the time they were called upon to jump into Holland during Operation Market Garden, the men of the US 101st Airborne Division had become one of the toughest and most formidable units of the entire US Army. In this powerful image the men of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR take a brief moment to reflect on their recent action during which they overpowered two entire companies of battle-hardened German Waffen-SS troops entrenched, with artillery support, along a Dutch dike, 5th October 1944. To add great authenticity the print is personally autographed by veterans who fought in Holland with the 101st Airborne, giving collectors the opportunity to acquire a historic and exclusive edition. CIVIL WAR DATED ABRAHAM LINCOLN NOTE SiGNED AND DATED AUGUST 9, 1864 BY LINCOLN TO SEC OF WAR FROM GENERAL THOMAS COA FROM PSA/DNA. Boldly penned Civil War-dated autograph endorsement as president, signed A. Lincoln, penned on the reverse of a one-page letter addressed to Adjutant General Lorenzo Thomas by Pennsylvania Congressman Charles O’Neill, dated August 9, 1864 by Lincoln. O’Neill’s letter, in part: My friend Mr. King, a very prominent citizen of Philadelphia, desires a leave of absence for his son Liuet. King of the 15th U. Infantry, who has just left the Hospital at Lookout Mountain, after a very severe spell of sickness and is now on light duty near that locality. ” Lincoln’s endorsement, dated August 10, 1864, in full: “Sec. Of War, please give Lieut. King the leave of absence for thirty days as requested. In very good to fine condition, with light splitting and toning along the folds, and some old tape to the blank panel.
